Sometimes being a hero can result from simply being the right person at the right time. Of course, there’s a lot more to it than that – you need to be able to use your talents to create a real moment of bravery or life-saving action, and this is exactly what happened to Laura Falvey when she was driving past a road-accident.

A 23 year old man had been knocked by a hit-and-run car and lay in a heap in the floor when Laura happened to be driving nearby. She saw the man, thankfully, and stopped her car to get out and help if she can. She was a medical student, and thanks to her knowledge she was able to provide life-saving support to the young man, without which the paramedics believe he would have not made it.

Lee required as much as a quarter of his skull being removed to prevent a blood clot, and also had his heart stop twice as a result of the accident. He still has a long road ahead of him, but he’s still here due to Laura Falvey and due to the help provided by paramedics and doctors at tne nearby hospital.

The incident happened in the London area at around 12pm and Police are still on the lookout for the people carrier they believed to be involved in the hit and run. Lee and his family have since met the hero Laura, with Lee’s mum jumping upon Laura when spotting her visiting the recovering Lee in hospital. She’ll be eternally grateful to the young girl’s swift and decisive action, taking control from the crowd of people around the victim and looking after him to give him the best possible chance of surviving. It’s really touching to know that there are heroes like Laura Falvey who might be on hand when tragedy strikes, just a normal person who goes out of their way to help when someone most desperately needs it.
