In my eyes as life seems to get more and more complicated certain other things begin to get simpler. As you get more involved and experienced of life, and perhaps the inevitable knock backs that sometimes get you down, you begin to appreciate the smaller things around you. You no longer crave some of the things that you once did – lots of money and a big house, but you start to be grateful for the simpler things. I’ve learned this lesson in part from living and in part from my grandad – a hero in my eyes. He’s gone through so much in his life, going from feeling on top of the world and then right back down again, but yet he still meets each new day with strong enthusiasm and energy. He’s learned that little things – a smile from a stranger, being in good health, the sun shining, will bring you more pleasure then you will ever realise. Its an outlook like this which has made him a hero forever in my own humble opinion.
